Oscar Joseph Claus was born in Clayton, Iowa, Dec. 4, 1870, the son of Mary Auer and Louis Claus, and died August 27, 1953, after several months illness. He attended school in Clayton and lived in that vicinity until his retirement to Garnavillo. On Sept. 25, 1900, he was married to Julia Meehan, who died in 1937. On Jan. 28, 1942, he was married to Elizabeth Dunn.
He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Anna Maker of Dubuque, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Alma Carrier of Guttenberg, and one brother, Louis Claus.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Joseph church with the Rev. __kel officiating.
