Charley J. Adams, son of David L. and T. Isabelle (Gould) Adams, was born near Haddam in Washington county, Kansas, July 19, 1884, and died at his home in Volga, Wednesday morning, October 14, 1953, at the age of 69.
When he was two years of age, the family moved to a homestead northwest of Lamar, Neb. Later he resided again in Washington County, Kansas, and also a short time at York, N. Dak., until the spring of 1903. Since that time Volga has been his home for slightly over a half century.
On February 1, 1927, he was united in marriage to Maudie Voshell, and continued his residence here until his sudden death.
Survivors besides his wife are the following sisters and brothers:Byrtilla, now Mrs. Herman F. Baars, Volga; Walter, Imperial, Nebr.; Omar, New Hampton; Mabel, now Mrs. Anson B. Randall, and Carrie, Now Mrs. Reid Davis, both of Volga; Carl, Wauneta, Nebr.; Fred and Freda of Volga; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Blake and Gill chapel with L. H. Brandt of Garnavillo and Oliver Smith of waterloo in charge.
Pallbearers were Arthur Everitt, Roy Candee, Howard Taylor, Howard Berger, Lyle Jennings and Michael Martin. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery, Volga.
