Contributor: Connie EllisRoselyn Amanda Liddy, age 92, of Littleport, Iowa died on Friday, May 13, 2005 at the Elkader Care Center following a long illness. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 16, 2005 at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport with Rev. Lin Reichstadter officiating with burial in the Union Cemetery in Littleport.
Roselyn Amanda Kurdelmeyer was born on November 2, 1912 in Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa to George and Caroline (Ihde) Kurdelmeyer. She attended country school through the eighth grade. On December 25, 1939 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Liddy in Elkader, Iowa. Together they owned and operated Liddy's General Store in Littleport where she was also the postmistress for many years before the post office closed. Roselyn was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Roselyn Amanda Liddy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1972; her sisters Charlotte Whittle and Cora Wagner; and her brothers Willliam "Bill" Kurdelmeyer and Arno Kurdelmeyer. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Casket bearers were Mike Zapf, J.P. Zapf, Bruce Whittle, Sgt. Clete Althoff, Cheryl Brenner, and Geraldine Johnson.
