Linda K. Smith, age 55, of Union Park,Iowa, formerly of Luana, Iowa died on Thursday, December 2, 2004 after a battle with cancer. Services were held on Monday, December 6, 2004 at Union Park United Methodist with James Louk officiating.

Linda was born on December 25, 1949 in McGregor, Iowa. She was a social worker for the Department of Human Services. Linda was a member of the Union Park Methodist Church, Headstart, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists, and the Friendship Force of Greater Des Moines, Iowa. She volunteered at Cattell Elementary once a week every year for each of her sons. She enjoyed her family and friends. She remained active with her organizations and her many travels for as long as her health allowed.

She is survived by her two sons, Derek Smith of Chicago, Illinois and Jared Smith of Des Moines; her mother Ruth Starkey (Ben)Witten; her father Clifford (Donna) Starkey; a sister Donna (LeRoy) Luepker; step-siblings Kathy Bugenhagen, Kendall (Kathy) Bradley, Karen (Marshall) Burkhart, Kelly (Jeff) Smerud, Kirk (Carla) Krampeter, Dwayne (Susan) Witten, Shelle Witten, Blake (Janet) Witten; a niece Laurie Bowers and a nephew Lonnie Luepker.
