Clyde Rentschler, 79, of Guttenberg died at 8 p.m. Monday, May 14, 1990 at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. L. R. Lechner at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Guttenberg City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Guttenberg American Legion and AMVETS Posts.
Pallbearers will be Butch Borman, LaVern Haas, Donald Sadewasser, Dr. John Goeppinger, Robert Klaes and Martin Walters.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-9 p.m. at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home.
Mr. Rentschler was born in rural Elkport Aug. 28, 1910, a son of Jacob and Emma (Rodas) Rentschler. He attended Elkport public school. He was married Nov. 24, 1938 in Elkader to Reta Koehn, who survives. Mr. Rentschler worked as a logger and later for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 20 years until he retired. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Surviving besides his wife, Reta, are three daughters, Fay Poppe, Mrs. David (Betty Ann) Griffiths and Mrs. David (Sandra) Gleim, all of Phoenix, Ariz., and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
