Guttenberg Native Died at Monona
Services for Arnold H. Schute, 83, rural Monona, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg and are to be conducted by Monsignor Donald Sweeney.
Mr. Schute died at his home Sunday evening, Jan. 20, after a brief illness.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Guttenberg with the following pallbearers: Dwain Wolter, Kevin Kammerer, Cheryl Zittergruen, Richard Huinker, Fred Smith and Arlyn Schroeder.
Visitation will be at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Garnavillo on Wednesday with the scripture wake service at 8 p.m.
Mr. Schute was born in Guttenberg Oct. 19, 1901, a son of Herman and Louise (Kreisler) Schute. He was married Oct. 22, 1929 at St. Mary’s Church in Guttenberg to Phyllis Yohe, who survives. Mr. Schute was a retired farmer.
Surviving besides his wife, Phyllis, are three daughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Maertens and Mrs. Louis (Marylouise) Marshall both of Minneapolis, Minn., and Geneva Schute of Dubuque; five sons, Arthur of Hazel Green, Wis., Loren of Clarksville, Tenn., Ronald of West Union, Dallas of Minneapolis, and Arnold of Westby, Wis., ; 23 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond of Guttenberg, Maravin of Farley, and Lavern of Washougall, Was.k and three sisters, Bernice Keller of Waukon, Norma Kluesner of Marquette and Dolores Padden of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerome, in infancy and a grandson, Stephen, in 1973.
