Obituary of Aaron August Hempeler

Aaron August Hempeler, son of Arlyn A. and Lena (Stickfort) Hempeler, was born in McGregor, Iowa, November 4, 1947. He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, November 30, 1947, by the Rev. K. Landgrebe. He was confirmed in the faith May 21, 1961, by the Rev. J. A. Pannkuk. He died suddenly in a farm tractor accident, on the family farm, last Thursday, November 4, 1965, at about 9:45 a.m., the very day of his 18th birthday.

Funeral services for Aaron were held on Sunday, November 7th, from St. Peter Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, with Rev. V.G. Sorensen officiating. Burial was in the Garnavillo City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis Hamann, Dwight Doerring, Clark Werges, John Klink, Douglas Hoth and Mark Sorensen.

Aaron was graduated from Garnavillo High School in May, 1965. He was chairman of the Clayton County 4-H Extension Council, a member of the Garnavillo Gophers 4-H Club, and a member of the Whistlin’ Bit Saddle Club and the American Guernsey Cattle Club. He showed his registered Guernsey’s at many fairs and shows which he dearly loved to do. He had looked forward to a full life on the farm. A very considerate and likeable young man, Aaron will be missed by all who have known him.

Aaron was a faithful young member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, regular in attendance at worship, active in Sunday School, Luther League, Choir and in serving as usher. He had planned to complete his Church and 4-H related God-Home-Country project in the next few weeks.

Surviving Aaron are his parents, four sisters; Ardith, Arlene, Audrey and Annette; and one brother Allen; his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. August J. Hempeler, all of Garnavillo; and grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Arno Stickfort of Clayton, Iowa, and Louis Hempeler, his great-uncle, a member of the household for many years also survives his passing.
Blessed be Aaron’s memory.
