McGregor: Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Thier were held at the Congregational church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. J. F. Parsons officiating. Lena Miller Thier was born at Atkinson, Nebr., Sept. 24, 1886, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Miller. When a child the family moved to the McGregor vicinity and she has spent most of her life here, with the exception of a few years during her married life. On Sept. 25, 1906, she was married to Rev. Bernard Thier, and to this union five children were born, two daughters dying in infancy. After the death of her husband, she returned to the home of her parents with her three small boys. She had been in ill health for several months and was brought to the McGregor hospital Wednesday in critical condition. An emergency operation was performed Thursday, but it failed to save her life. She died Saturday, Nov. 9. She is survived by her three sons, Werner of Milwaukee, Armin and Erwin of McGregor; three grandchildren; her parents, and two brothers, Carl and William, of McGregor.
