Clayton County Register, Wed., 11 Dec. 1935.
Garber: Mary May Hansel, daughter of John H. and Jennie Hansel, was born March 27, 1900, in Clayton county near Garber, and passed away Friday morning, Nov. 29th, 1935, at 2:15, being thirty-five years, eight months, and two days in this life.
Her brother, Quiller, and her mother preceded her in death. Quiller passed away July 30, 1910, and her mother, March 9, 1925.
She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, Hilda Marie, her father, four brothers, Boyce of Volga City, Cecil, Ralph and Dale of near Garber; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Ridenor and Mrs. Pauline Gull of Colesburg, and Mrs. Osie Morley of Garber, besides other relatives and friends.
She made her home with her parents. In the fall of 1930 she was taken ill and in April, 1931, she was stricken blind and since that time had been an invalid. Being always ready to help those in need, she was beloved by all who knew her. All that earthly hands could do was done to relieve her suffering but her heavenly Father had a greater plan for her and took her home where she will know no sickness or pain. Her uncles, Ira Hansel, Will Hansel, Realto Hansel, Japan Hansel, Jess Hansel and Charles Landis, acted as pallbearers. Rev. Knight of the United Brethren church of which the deceased was a member officiated at the church and graveside. Burial was in the Hansel cemetery on Sunday afternoon.
