Susan Watson, second daughter of James and Barbara Muncie, was born in Carluke, Scotland, May 12, 1887. She was educated in the Carluke public school and grew to womanhood in that city. On Nov. 18, 1910, she was united in marriage to George Thompson. Two children were born to them, a boy who died at birth, and a daughter, Barbara, who died in 1927, at the age of eleven.
In June, 1913, they came to the United States and settled on a farm in Highland township, Clayton county, where they resided until 1931, when they moved on a farm near Arlington.
Mrs. Thompson, after a long illness, died Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m.
Those who survive her and mourn her passing are: her husband, George Thompson; five brothers, William Muncie in Carluke, Scotland, James, formerly of Volga, now of Elgin, Alex of Houston, Texas, Archie of Brooklyn, N.Y., John of Elgin; five sisters, Mrs. Alex Scott of Wishau, Scotland, Mrs. George Gibbs, Mrs. John Gilchrist, Miss Barbara and Miss Jean, all of Carluke, Scotland.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Muncie, of Wadena.
Funeral services were held at the family home near Arlington on Tuesday. The Rev. W. F. Caldwell, her pastor, and the Rev. William Robertson of Wayzata, Minn., lifelong friend of the family, officiated. Interment was made in the Wadena cemetery.
