St. Olaf: Miss Perrine Onetta Embretson was born June 2, 1882, the daughter of Embret Embretson and Bertha Larson Embretson. She grew to womanhood here and attended the public schools here and also attended the ladies seminary at Red Wing, Minn., in 1905. She spent a year and a half at Manning, N.D., on a homestead claim. In 1916 she became ill and had operations performed at LaCrosse, Wis., and Dubuque, and over a period of twenty years her health has been failing and on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 28, at 2:15, she passed away peacefully. She leaves three sisters, Mrs. T. A. Johnson of Manning, N.D., Mrs. Oscar Thompson and Mrs. K. H. Knudson, both of St. Olaf; two brothers, Oscar, who died at the age of six years, and Elmer, who died in infancy. Her mother died April 14, 1894, and her father was married in 1895 to Miss Nellie Helgerson. To this union three sons were born, Edwin and Philmon, at home, one son was killed in an accident. Her father died in September, 1933. Mrs. Nellie Embretson survives him and has been a real mother to the deceased and has comforted her in her long siege of Sickness. Miss Embretson's favorite song was "Ransom of the King" and it was sung at the funeral by Mrs. Roy Russow as a solo. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Norway church. Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated. Interment was made in the Norway cemetery. The pallbearers were: W. Carney, K. K. Stearns, H. T. Embretson, Fred Orvis, O. K. Houg, and T. K. Thompson. Her age was 53 years five months and 26 days.
