Monona: John Quintain Rupp was born at Giard Sept. 18, 1858, and died Sunday at his home here at the age of 77 years. He was married to Miss Emma C. Lenth, and one daughter was born to them, Mrs. Louis J. Kurth.
Mr. Rupp was active all his life in affairs for the betterment of the community. He had a jovial disposition and had many friends. He thoroughly enjoyed life and mingling with men. He was a member of the Masonic order, member of the Monona chapter No. 256, O.E.S., a member of the Pioneer Memorial Church society, and was affiliated with the M.E. church. He was always a willing worker in these organizations. The large attendance at the funeral showed the esteem in which he was held.
Surviving him also is one granddaughter, Mrs. Vivian Kurth Selberg, of Waukon; and one great-grandson, Keith Selberg, of Waukon.
Funeral services were held from the home to the First Methodist church at 2 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. G. W. Turner in charge, assisted by a former pastor, Rev. H. E. Morrow.
The service in the Monona cemetery was in charge of the Masonic order. Burial service was conducted by his life-long friend, H. D. Brown, of Elkader.
