Volga City News columns.Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock at the home for Mrs. L. E. Mayville, 74, who passed away Monday afternoon following a week's illness. Rev. P. K. Kitterer, pastor of the Evangelical church, Elkader, officiated. Services were then held at Elkader at the church at two o'clock with interment at the Elkader cemetery.
Her six nephews were pallbearers. She is survived by her husband and two brothers, John and George Ehrhardt, of Elkader.

Mrs. Leonard Mayville died at her home in Volga City, September 30th at the age of 74 years, two months and 23 days.
Mrs. Mayville, the daughter of John and Henrietta Ehrhardt, was born July 7th, 1861, here in Boardman township. She was one of a family of seven children - four daughters and three sons. Two sisters died in infancy, one sister, Mrs. J. J. Kuehl, died October 21, 1934, one brother, Charlie, died in 1925. Two brothers, John and George Ehrhardt, of this place, survive.
Mrs. Mayville spent her entire life in this community. On April 29th, 1888, she was united in marriage with Leonard Mayville in Boardman township. The young couple moved to a farm in Cox Creek township where they remained for four years. From this farm they moved to Volga City to spend another four years. In 1906 they again returned to the farm where they spent the next 22 years of their life. In 1928 after the death of their son, they moved to Volga City, where the deceased spent the closing days of her life.
To this union six children were born. Five of the children, all boys, died in infancy. John, who died in the year 1928, reached the age of 39 years.
Mrs. Mayville was in failing health for some time but confined to her bed for only a few days before death took her. Besides her two brothers, already named, she is survived by her husband as well as a large number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
Services were held last Wednesday afternoon at the late home in Volga City at one o'clock and from the Evangelical church here in Elkader at two o'clock. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.
Casketbearers were six nephews, as follows: William, Carl, Leroy, Lewis and George Ehrhardt and Fred Kuehl.
