Pensel, Fern Marie (Hines) 1945-2015

Fern Marie Pensel passed away Nov. 23, 2015, at the Guttenberg Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg.

Fern was born March 31, 1945, to Roberto and Anna (Lamphier) Hines in rural Strawberry Point. She graduated from American School. She married Carl Pensel on July 18, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg.

Carl and Fern farmed for many years. One of Fern's biggest joys was milking her cows. She also enjoyed playing cards, growing flowers, visiting with fellow workers, lovingly spoiling her dogs, cooking, and fishing with Carl. She worked at Muters in Guttenberg, and also the Guttenberg Care Center for 28 years as a CNA.

Fern is survived by her husband of 51 years, Carl; son, Terry; daughter, Rose; grandson, Dustin; great-granddaughter, AmberLynn; two brothers, Marcine (Linda) Hines and Deryl (LuAnn) Hines; one sister, Phyllis Sthar; one sister-in-law, Emily Hines; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and one brother, Burnell.
