Jake Tinkey, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 25th, at his home in Clayton, following an illness of three months.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Tinkey, he was born June 3, 1854, in Indiana. On Nov. 17, 1884, at Cassville, Wis., he was married to Miss Adeline Wick, who survives him.
Upon their arrival in Iowa the young couple settled at North Buena Vista. In 1911 they moved to Clayton, where Mr. Tinkey engaged in commercial fishing.
A son, Samuel Eugene Tinkey, and two daughters, Florence May and Nancy Ann Tinkey, have preceded their father in death. An adopted daughter, Mrs. Elmer Bishop, lives at Clayton.
In addition to his wife and adopted daughter, Mr. Tinkey leaves a sister, Mrs. J. C. Sayton, of North Buena Vista, and two brothers, Ed Tinkey of Guttenberg, and Fred Tinkey of Garber.
Funeral services for the deceased, who was a member of the Methodist church, were conducted by the Rev. M. J. Harder. Pallbearers were Dave Beetem, Sam Beckett, Kay Ellsworth, William Theodore, Malin Rickers and David Walker. Interment was made in the Clayton cemetery.
