Mrs. George Rothmeyer died Tuesday morning, July 2, 1935, at the family residence near Elkader, Iowa, after an illness of several years.
Mrs. Rothmeyer was born in Boston, Mass., Dec. 17, 1869. She came to Iowa in her early youth, settled in Clayton county, and lived her entire life in this vicinity.
She was united in marriage to George Rothmeyer Nov. 27, 1900, and to this union three children were born: Mrs. Joseph McTaggart, Strawberry Point; Miss Mary Rothmeyer, at home, and Carl, Milwaukee, Wis.
Mrs. Rothmeyer is survived by her husband, Geo. Rothmeyer, the two daughters and one son, and two grandchildren, James and Carroll McTaggart; one brother, John McGee, Elkader; besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock, to the St. Joseph's Catholic church, Elkader, at 10 o'clock. The Very Rev. J. P. Taken sang the Requiem high mass and officiated at the cemetery. Burial was made in the St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery here.
At the close of the mass, Mrs. Marvin Berns sang a soprano solo, "Mother at Your Feet Is Kneeling."
Casket-bearers were: Wm. Roach, Pete Feeney, Will Kelly, Andrew Cassidy, Tom Cassidy, and Pat Downey.
