Clayton County Register, Thur., 11 July 1935.

John Rodgers, who had been a patient in the county insane hospital for about three years, died last Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in Lenth's hospital, of old age.

The deceased was born in April, 1850, in Alsace-Lorraine, Europe. He received his education in France, and at the age of 20 years came to this country, settling first in Milwaukee. There in 1873 he married Miss Margaret Case.

They spent about 20 years in various parts of this county and in 1908 the deceased settled on a farm in Jefferson township. His wife preceded him in death May 7, 1907.

Mr. Rodgers was the father of eight children, six of whom survive. They were as follows: Mary Rodgers, deceased Oct. 13, 1913; John Rodgers, St. Paul, Minn.; Margaret Vorwald, Hudson, Wis.; Nicholas Rodgers, Elkader; Lucille Stuart, Dubuque; Mrs. Henry Kuehl, Elkader; George Rodgers, deceased, 1930, and Leo Rodgers, Elkader. Eight grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in St. Michael's church in Garber and interment was made in the Elkport Catholic cemetery, the Rev. Father Goetzinger officiating.
