Mrs. Gustave Seeman (nee Bertha Kobernusz), one of this community's long-time residents and worthy mothers, passed away at her home in Guttenberg on Sunday morning at 5:00 o'clock at the age of 68 years and 19 days. She had been ill for some time previous to her death.
Mrs. Seeman was born at Cadow, Pomerania, Germany, on June 19, 1867. In 1870 she came to America with her parents, settling at Chicago, Ill. After residing at Chicago for three years, the family came to Guttenberg to make their home, where the deceased spent the remainder of her ambitious and true Christian life. On May 6, 1886, she was married at Guttenberg to Mr. Gustave Seeman. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm in Jefferson township where they resided until 1917. In that year they came to Guttenberg to make their home.
She was a faithful member of St. John's American Lutheran church of Guttenberg.
Her death is deeply mourned by her husband, two sons, Sam of Garnavillo township, and Bert of Jefferson township; one daughter, Mrs. Delbert Morley of Guttenberg; four grandchildren; one brother, Wm. Kobernusz of Glenville, Minn., and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's American Lutheran church here on Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in the City cemetery. One daughter, Amanda, preceded the mother in death, dying in infancy.
