Clayton County Register, Thur., 4 Apr. 1935. Farmersburg column.
Wm. C. F. Drallmeier was born Jan. 27, 1852, in Destel, Westphalia, Germany. Through baptism as a babe he was made a child of God, and later as a young boy, and after due instruction in the word of God, was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
As a young man, at the age of 16, he came to America landing in Prairie du Chien. From here he crossed the river to McGregor to settle in Clayton county, which continued to be his home until his departure from this earthly life. From McGregor he went to an only aunt and uncle west of St. Olaf who had seen to his passage across the water. He now worked as a hired man in the community making his home with his aunt and uncle.
On February 22, 1877, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Mandelkow. Together they started on their new journey in life on a farm near National. After two years on this farm they moved to their present place, which has been home to them for 56 years. This union was blessed with nine children
All through life Mr. Drallmeier has enjoyed the privilege of good health, and even though he had reached the late years of life, he had been able to be about, doing a bit of work here and there; also helping care for his invalid wife. Several weeks ago he became ill with pneumonia. For a time it seemed as though he would rally but he was finally taken in death on Sunday morning, March 17th, at three o'clock, having reached the age of 83 years, one month and 21 days.
Mr. Drallmeier was one of the founders of St. John's Lutheran church which membership he retained until his death.
He leaves to mourn his invalid wife, Mrs. Mary Drallmeier; his nine children, Henry Drallmeier, McGregor; Louis Drallmeier, McGregor; Mrs. Ernest Haltmeyer, Farmersburg; Mrs. Morris Sullivan, West Union; Mrs. John Baade, Farmersburg; Art Drallmeier, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Chas.
