Mrs. Edward Krauel died at her home here last Thursday morning at nine o'clock, following an illness which had confined her to her home for more than a month. Mrs. Krauel, however, had been in poor health for more than two years.
Catherine Fallon was born September 13, 1869, in Garnavillo township, the daughter of Michael and Sarah Fallon, and at the time of her death had reached the age of 65 years, 6 months and 15 days.
She received her education in the school of Garnavillo and Elkader, and then for a period of ten or twelve years taught in the schools of this county.
On October 10, 1899, in Garnavillo, she was united in marriage with Mr. Edward Krauel. For five years thereafter they made their home in Garnavillo, and in 1905 removed to Elkader, where she has since lived with her husband.
No children were born to this union, but she is survived by her husband; one sister, Miss Ellen Fallon of Garnavillo; five nieces and one nephew, as follows, Anna Hamann, John Auer and Colista Auer, all of Garnavillo, Mrs. Ben Behrens of Farmersburg township, Mrs. Otto Beck and Miss Irene Donohue, both of Elkader.
The deceased was a devout Catholic and a regular attendant of St. Joseph's church here. She was an active member of the Rosary society and the Catholic Ladies Aid, where she will be missed equally as much as at home.
Funeral services were held in St. Joseph's church here last Saturday morning at ten o'clock and interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery, the Rev. Father J. P. Taken officiating. Casketbearers were: E. F. Seifert, Meder Dinan, Albert Allen, Mike Eischeid, Dr. J. P. Donlon and D. E. Gleason.
