Clayton County Register, Thur., 7 Mar. 1935.

Allie F. Losch died at his home here last Sunday, at 3:00 a.m., following an illness which had confined him to his home and bed since the middle of last September. He had been in poor health for the last four years.

The subject of this sketch was born in Boardman township, on a farm, on September 30, 1883, the son of Martin and Louise Losch. At the time of his death he had reached the age of fifty-one years, five months and three days.

The days of his boyhood had been spent on the home farm where he was the youngest of thirteen children. As a young man he came to Elkader and took employment in Niemeyer's store where he clerked for about six years. Later he joined in partnership in the general merchandise business with E. A. Burlingame and this partnership continued for fifteen years, until his health required his retirement.

September 7th, 1914, he was united in marriage here with Sue Neylan and to this union four children were born, namely, Edwin, Mary Lucille, Jean, and Donna, who together with the widow mourn his passing as do three brothers and three sisters, Dave, Peter, Henry, and Mary on the home farm, Mrs. Pete Miller and Mrs. Louise Cain, all of Elkader.

Mr. Losch was more of a home-man than anything else. He spent practically all his time either with his business or in his home with his family and for that reason, he will be missed most sadly by the family circle.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at St. Joseph's church, where he was a member, the Rev. J. P. Taken officiating. Interment was made in the St. Joseph's cemetery. His casket-bearers were: Mike Miller, Mike Downey, Harold Downey, Fred Seyberts, Fred Rodas and Walter Kennedy. Members of the Knights of Columbus, of which the deceased was a member, attended the services in a body.

Relatives and friends from a distance who were called here by the death of Mr. Losch were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kaber of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Mrs. Jennie Becker and son of _reton (looks like Ireton or Treton), Iowa; Mr. McDougal, Will and Buck Nicholson, all of Strubel, Iowa, and B. F. Doyle of Des Moines.
