Clayton County Journal, IA, Friday, September 6, 1907, pg. 5
Mrs. Julia Felder died at 9:30 o'clock Saturday evening, August 31, 1907, at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 21 days of cancer of the stomach from which she had been suffering since spring. Until about three weeks ago she was able to be up and around; the best care and medical skill, however, failed to prolong the life of this good Christian woman and kind and loving mother.
Deceased was born July 21, 1841, at Fayetteville, Ohio, and in 1855 came to Guttenberg where she was married to Gerhard Heitmann in 1859. They lived on a farm near Glen Haven, Wis., until her husband's death by drowning while crossing the river January 1, 1862. To this union two sons were born: Henry, residing in Guttenberg and August Huene, who died March 5th and who had been adopted by the late Joseph Huene. After moving to Guttenberg she married Theodore Felder in 1863, who passed away 21 years ago. Ten children survive her. They are Joseph, Frank, Peter, William, Mathilda, Mrs. Andrew Stoeffler and Mrs. R. E. Kirschbaum of Guttenberg, John of Ipswich, S. Dak., Mrs. Clarence Hampton of Glen Haven, Wis., Mrs. Casper Westemeyer, Dyersville.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. H. Brinkman. Burial was in the new Catholic Cemetery.
