Arlen Lee Scheffert, age 78, of North Liberty, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 13 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Arlen was born September 27, 1938 to Lionel and Lucretia (Schofield) Scheffert in Monona, Iowa. He shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life Marian Livingston. They were blessed with three children and five grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who found happiness in his love of gardening, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He had a successful career as a barber, firefighter and sales manager for safety and fire equipment at Smeal/Danko Fire. He had a hard work ethic and excelled at all he did as a true perfectionist. He was a true gentleman and friend.

We will miss him every day but know he is in heaven with the catch of his life. Arlen is survived by his three children: Tony Scheffert, Terry (Paul) Gorman, and Tracy (Scott) Winker; his five grandchildren Chad, Grace, Ellen, Katelyn, and Calvin; and his two siblings, Duane Scheffert and Donna Lou Huinker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother Donald Scheffert.
