Clayton County Register, Thur., 10 Jan. 1935.
Mrs. Linda Fehlhafer was born at Lancaster, Wis., April 29, 1886, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Alt. When three years of age she came to Clayton county and lived with her parents on a farm several miles east of Garnavillo.
She was united in marriage with Ed Fehlhafer April 26, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. Fehlhafer have always lived in this county and for a number of years have lived on a farm in the neighborhood of Garber. Three sons were born to them.
Late in the summer Mrs. Fehlhafer underwent an operation at Rochester, Minn., and returned there several times for further treatment. She was warned about the seriousness of her condition on the last trip. She had been bedfast since her return about six weeks ago and after much patient suffering succumbed early Friday morning, Dec. 28th, at the age of 48 years, seven months and 29 days.
As a wife and mother her family was her first concern and as a friend and neighbor she commanded the love and respect of all who knew her. She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul's church and the Ladies Aid.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband and three sons, Alto, at home; Clarence of Elkport; and Verni of Garber; as well as a step-son, Leslie, of Eyota, Minn.; three brothers, Arnold of Chicago, Ill., Albert of Clayton, Herman of Lyons, Iowa, and Theodore of Mountain Lake, Minn.; also three sisters, Mrs. Ida Hagensick of Marquette, Mrs. Katie Sawvell of Wall, S.D., and Mrs. Anna Green of Dubuque. Besides these she leaves four grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's church, Garnavillo, by the Rev. M. J. Harder Monday, December 31, and interment was made at the Garnavillo cemetery.
(Note: The obituary states she was survived by three brothers but names four.)
