Gerald "Jerry" Stence, 56, died Tuesday morning at his home in Garnavillo. He was a local businessman and was a past member of the Clayton County Board of Supervisors.

Survivors are his wife, Wanda; a son, Daniel of Des Moines; two daughters, Janet Johnson of St. Olaf, and Monica Stence of Guttenberg; two brothers, John and James, both of Elkader; a sister, Helen Allen of Ossian; and one grandson.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Burial: Garnavillo City Cemetery. Visitation from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Tuecke-Allyn's.
