James Francis Neylan died Saturday, Dec. 3, after a long illness.
He was born Sept. 17, 1880, at Elkader, the son of John and Lucy Neylan.
In the year 1908 he was married to Mary Austin of Chicago. To this union eight children were born: James of Long Beach, Calif.; Raymond of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Jack Graham of Narberth, Pa.; John of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. C. W. Bennington, Clarence and Charles of Elkader; and one son, Joseph, who is deceased.
Mr. Neylan was a farmer and then entered the Chevrolet garage business, and from then on was retired.
He was preceded in death by one son and his parents. Surviving besides the above named children are his wife, Mary; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Janie Neylan of Elkader, Mrs. B. F. Doyle of Des Moines, Mrs. Sue Losch of San Francisco, Calif., and Margaret of Lake Port, Calif.; and one brother, John, of Elkader.
Funeral services were held Dec. 6, from the St. Joseph Catholic church. Interment was in St. Joseph cemetery. The Very Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated.
Pallbearers were: Jack Donlon, Joe Hurley, M. M. Penneton, Pete Dougherty, M. R. Hurley and Jim Kelleher.
