Strawberry Point - The death of Ferdinand Hoyer occurred Friday morning. He had suffered a heart attack, probably due to the extreme heat. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M.O. Jahr. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Ferdinand Hoyer was born in East Prussia, Germany, on Jan. 17, 1861. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On Nov. 2, 1882, he was united in marriage to Johannah Felsch at Drenkfort, Germany. After coming to Strawberry Point he was engaged in farming for several years until he moved to town, where the home has since been made.
He is survived by his wife and ten children, Fred, Gust and Carl, of Strawberry Point; Mrs.. Marie Accola of Davenport; Mrs. Elizabeth Jewell of Edgewood; Mrs. Helen Groth of Guttenberg; Mrs. Anna Halx of Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Lydia Schug of Miles City, Mont.; Mrs. Martha Hoskyn of Stuttgart, Ark. and Milton of Willow Spring, Mo.; also 33 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
