Garber: Lyman Hansel, son of John and Jane Hansel, was born in Mallory township, Clayton county, Iowa, January 1, (looks like 1868). He received his education from the Studebaker county school.
On March 2_, 18_9, he was united in marriage with Rhoda (middle name looks like Rosella) Bo__tt. Six children were born to them, five of whom are still living: Blanch Morley of Garber; Amber Brockmeyer, Greeley; Agnes at home; Arthur of Garber; and Earl, who is on the home farm. One daughter died in infancy.
Mr. Hansel lived all of his life in Mallory township where he was occupied by farming three miles southeast of Garber. He was always active on the farm until Dec. 13, 1948, when he became ill. Then for 11 months he was confined to his home where he spent most of the time in bed. It was there he died on Nov. 12, 1949. He had reached the age of 81 years, 10 months and 11 days.
Survivors are: his wife; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Swisher, of Garber; three daughters, Amber Brockmeyer of Greeley, Blanch Morley of Garber, and Agnes at home; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Patrick, and Mrs. Lettie Oldham; and his infant daughter.
