John Stebor, long time Elkader businessman, died in his 82nd year Monday after seven months of illness.
Born in Bohemia, he emigrated to America when he was about three.
He came to Elkader in 1901 from Winona, started a cigar plant and tobacco store here and had been in business since that time.
He married Julia Molzahn, who died in 1942. They had nine children. Five preceded them in death; Louis, George, Clayton, and twins who died in infancy.
Services are planned this afternoon (Wednesday) at the Congregational Christian church at 2:30.
He is survived by two sons, Fred in Detroit and Robert in Elkader; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Atkins, Chicago, and Ruth, Elkader; one sister, Mrs. Rose Reski of North Dakota; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
