Mary Elizabeth Meisner, daughter of Fredrick and Louisa Meyer, was born Oct. 31, 1866, in Boardman township, Clayton county, Iowa. Here she spent her childhood and school days.

On Nov. 11, 1895, she was married to Fred J. Meisner, also of Boardman township. They were the parents of two children, Velma and Clarence. They operated a farm four miles west of Elkader, where they lived until the death of Mr. Meisner Nov. 6, 1929. Upon leaving the farm, Mrs. Meisner moved to Chicago to make her home with her daughter. She remained there, except for annual summer visits to this community.

During this summer's visit she became ill and was taken to St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids, where she died Aug. 24.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of Clayton Center. She was a member of the Friedens Evangelical Lutheran church during the time she lived in this community.

All of her six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Her survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Miller of Chicago; a son, Clarence Meisner of Galveston, Texas; grandchildren, Linda and Kenneth Meisner of Galveston, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews, and some cousins.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Aug. 26, at the Witt funeral home and at Peace Evangelical and Reformed church with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. The pall bearers were: Oscar Benson, Will Cheeseman, Lucian Donlon, Stephen Donlon, Harry Hoth and Jack Neylan. Flower girls were: Jean Frommelt and Mrs. Norris Larson.

Interment was made in the East Side cemetery.
