Services for William Clifford, 81, who was seriously burned in his home here and died at the Postville Community hospital Oct. 4, were held in the Schultz funeral home Saturday, Oct. 6. The Rev. E. Wayne Hilmer, pastor of the Methodist church, had charge of the services. Burial was in the city cemetery.

William Irwin Clifford, son of Michael and Ellen Irwin Clifford, was born in Giard township on Oct. 22, 1875. He was educated in the Giard township public schools and the Monona high school. He was a member of the Methodist church.

In 1932 he retired from farming and moved to Monona, where he had since made his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sisters Kate and Ella, two half-sisters, Mary & Anna, and half-brother Dan. Left to mourn are a few distant relatives and many friends.
