From the Thursday, 29 September 1910 issue of “The Register and Argus” (Elkader, IA), page 2, column 4:

Mrs. Dennert Dead.

From the Dubuque Times-Journal of Tuesday we get the following:

Mrs. Caroline Dennert, aged 74 years, died Monday morning at 12:15 o’clock at her residence, 34 Francis street.

The deceased was born in Berlin, Germany, in the year 1836, coming to American when fifteen years old, and settling in Wisconsin. In 1853 she came to Dubuque and in 1854 was united in marriage with Bernard Scherr in this city. Mr. Scherr died in 1868, and in 1870 she was married to Mr. F. Dennert, and four years later went to Elkader to live. Mr. Dennert died in 1887 and the following year his widow returned to Dubuque and had since made this city her home. During her many years of residence here Mrs. Dennert made many friends, among whom she was held in high regard for her admirable qualities.

She is survived by six children, Mrs. Jos. Ruegnitz, William L., Albert T. and B. J. Scherr, of Dubuque; Frank Dennert, of St. Louis, and Emma Dennert, of Dubuque
