Funeral services for Lawrence C. Gottschalk who died at his home in Wagner township Tuesday, Jan. 18, 1949, were held from the Witt Funeral Chapel Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock to the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the Clayton Center cemetery.
Lawrence C. Gottschalk was born in Boardman township, Clayton county, Iowa, on June 20, 1904, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gottschalk. He received his education in the school in Boardman township and devoted the remainder of his life to farming.
He was united in marriage on April 20, 1944, at Manchester, Ia., to Miss Georgina Tieden. Following their marriage he farmed with his father-in-law, George Tieden, until a year ago when they moved to the farm in Wagner township.
He was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church.
He had reached the age of forty-four years, six months and twenty-eight days.
Surviving are his wife and two children, Loren age four, and Lorraine four months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gottschalk; one sister, Mrs. Ray (Milda) Tieden; and one brother, Elmer, all of Elkader.
He was preceded by three brothers who died in infancy.
Pallbearers were: Arnold Gottschalk, Harvey Gottschalk, Harry Seeland, Harold Seeland, Harley Seeland and Harold Lenth.
