Funeral services for Albert Grossman, 74, were held from the Witt funeral chapel Friday afternoon, March 4, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in East Side cemetery.
Mr. Grossman died at Independence Wednesday, March 2. He began to fail in health about two years ago and last year it became necessary to move him to the hospital at Independence.
Albert Grossman was born in East Prussia, Germany, Feb. 16, 1875, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Grossman. He came to America in 1910 and settled at St. Olaf. In July of the same year he was married to Mrs. Charlotte Kaja. After their marriage they moved to a farm five miles southeast of Elkader. In 1920 they purchased a farm about eight miles northwest of Elkader where they lived until 1944 when he and his wife moved to Elkader. Mrs. Grossman died that same year.
He is survived by three step-children: Mrs. Louis Gamm, Strawberry Point; William Kaja, Lamont; and Mrs. Fred Steen, Elkader.
Pallbearers were: Otto Szemkus, Gottfried Herman, Fred Eggimann, Albert Breitsprcher, William Mohr, and George Bente.
