Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Eckheart, 48, were held from the family residence at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon to the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mrs. Eckheart died suddenly about one o'clock Thursday morning, Feb. 17. Apparently in good health, she had spent the evening at a neighbors house. She returned home about midnight and was stricken shortly after.

Ruth Jane Kottman was born on a farm south of Volga City, July 26, 1900, the daughter of Louis and Sarah (Revell) Kottman. She received her education in the school near her home. On March 18, 1926, at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed parsonage in Elkader, she was united in marriage to Arthur Leroy Eckheart. The couple went to housekeeping in Elkader where they spent their entire married life. Her husband preceded her in death in 1944. He also died suddenly of a heart attack.

Mrs. Eckheart was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church and of the American Legion Auxiliary of which she was an officer and active member.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Richard, 22, a student at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Robert, 20, and Mary Lucille, age 11, both of Elkader; her mother, Mrs. Louis Kottman, and one sister, Mrs. Edward Larson, both of Volga City. Preceding her in death besides her husband were her father in 1937, a sister, Dorothy Marie in 1913, and a brother, Alva, in 1943.

Pallbearers were Dr. L. A. Meder, Orval Sullivan, Irving Christensen, F. C. Thiele, Glen Gifford, Melvin Glesne.
