Funeral services for Herbert G. Cook, 74, of Milwaukee, Wis., a former Elkader resident, were held from the Witt funeral chapel at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Herbert G. Kelly officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
Mr. Cook died in a Milwaukee hospital, Jan. 27, 1949, he had been in failing health for several years, but confined to his bed only for the past four weeks. Services were held in Milwaukee Saturday afternoon, Jan. 29, before returning the body to Elkader for burial.
Herbert Gilbert Cook was born at Elkader, January 17, 1875, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Cook. He was united in marriage to Miss Williette Crowe, September 22, 1908. She preceded him in death July 28, 1939. They had lived in Milwaukee, Wis., for approximately 40 years. Mr. Cook was agent with the Land Commission of the Chi-Pacific Railroad for twenty years and assistant City Real Estate Agent of Milwaukee for the last twenty years.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Curtis of Chicago; Robert and Mrs. Clem (Ruth) Nagel both of Milwaukee; also six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: L. D. Smith, J. W. Downie, H. M. Wolf, Walter Turner, Ray Turner and Kenneth Gossman.
