Funeral services for Mrs. Homer G. Walter, 20, were held from the Witt funeral chapel at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon to the Zion Lutheran church in Clayton Center at 2 o'clock. The Rev. J. H. Zerhusen officiated. Burial was in the United Brethren cemetery in Wagner township.
Mrs. Walter died at the Mother's Haven, in Volga City at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 26, 1949, of a heart attack following a week's illness.
Dorothy Marie Lanford was born August 6, 1928 at LaPorte City, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Olive (Means) Lanford. Later she moved with her parents to Wadena. She received her education in the rural school and attended one year of high school.
On June 4, 1946, at West Union, she was united in marriage to Homer G. Walter. They lived near Garber for a time and later in Waterloo. Since September 1948 they have made their home with his mother, Mrs. Anna Walter in Highland township. She was a member of the United Brethren church.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Sandra Marie, three years old, and Dawn Delight, two weeks of age. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Landford, and two brothers Harold Lanford, New Castle, Ind.; and Robert Lanford, La Porte City, and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Anna Walter.
Pall bearers were: Carl Seifert, Eldo Johnson, Melvin Sims, Allison Buchheim, Henry Schlee and Donald Buchheim.
