Elkader Register, Thur., 25 Dec. 1924.

Mrs. Ed Meisner, Sr., pioneer resident of Clayton County, passed away last Thursday evening, December 11th, at the home of her son-in-law, H. C. Pahlas, at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 7 days.

Wilhelmine Planert was born in Klosterlausnitz, Germany, on April 4, 1834. There she spent her childhood days and at the age of 21 years she was united in marriage to Edward Meisner. Shortly after their marriage in 1855 they came to America to make their home. They first made their home at Elkader for several months then they moved to Clayton Center, where Mr. Meisner worked at the carpenter trade for several years. In 1860 they moved on a farm in Boardman township. Here on this farm thru their untiring efforts and wise economy they were able to reap the fruits of their hard labors in later years. After their children were grown up, their farm was turned over to their son Fred and the aged couple moved into another residence on the home farm. Here the old couple with their granddaughter, Carrie, enjoyed life for many years.

A shadow of gloom was cast over the home on November 4, 1912, the husband, after a happy married life of over 57 years was called into the life beyond. In June of the following year Mrs. Meisner with her granddaughter, Carrie, came to Elkader to make their home with the H. C. Pahlas family.

Her departure is mourned by two sons and one daughter, Edward Meisner, Fred Meisner and Mrs. H. C. Pahlas, all of Elkader. Four daughters and one son preceded the parents in death, Mrs. Caroline Rinkert, Mrs. Bertha Schumacher, Mrs. Maria Schmidt, Mrs. Wilhelmine Beier and August Meisner. She also leaves nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. She was the oldest member of the Frauen-Verein of the Evangelical church.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 and at 2:00 o'clock at the Evangelical church. Burial in the East Side cemetery.

A useful and blessed life has come to a close and she will be missed by those nearest and dearest to her, as well as by those who knew her; but all will find comfort in the assurance that Grandma Meisner has entered into the glorious promised rest of the children of God.
