Died in Monona, Ia., Dec. 8, 1885, of prostration of the Nervous system, Isaac Barnes. Deceased was born in Little Falls, Herkimer Co., N.Y., August 16, 1800, being at the time of his death in his 86th year.
He moved from N.Y. to Indiana in April, 1845, thence to Monona, Ia. in March, 1863, where he has since resided.
Jan. 26th, 1826, he was united in marriage to Harriet Churchill, of Little Falls, N.Y., who still survives him, aged 76 years. Had he lived until the 26th day of next month, sixty years of married life would have been allotted to this couple.
The children now living are Elijah Barnes, now a resident of Kansas; Mrs. Silas Egbert of Rock Rapids, Ia.; Mrs. Isaac Borden of New Carlisle, Ind.; Milo W. Barnes of Kokomo, Ind.; Jas. H. Barnes and Mrs. C.L. McGonigle, of Monona, Ia.
His was an honest, industrious, busy life, until within the last few years, age compelled him to give up all manly toil and quietly await the coming of the summons to cross over to the "Land beyond."
The funeral occurred on Wednesday at his residence. Father Littler of the M.E. Church officiating. The ages widow, and children have the sympathy of all in their berevement.
