Maria Ruth, daughter of the late Captain Edward and Elizabeth Denison, was born August 15, 1840, in Franklin county, Mass., and was married to Henry C. Howe, Nov. 24th, 1864, and located in Windham county, Vermont.

In 1867 she came to Clayton county, Ia., which has since been her home. She died October 16, 1909, at Monona.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband, a daughter and husband, four grand-children and many devoted friends in Iowa; five sisters and two brothers in Massachusetts.

Note: the obit of her husband names the daughter as Mrs. (Mary) Dwight Newcomb SR. Burial is in the Monona City cemetery.
