Mrs. E.C. Becker received word the past week from Denver, Colo., of the death of an uncle, Max Ruegnitz, 80, which occurred on Friday, October 5th.

Mr. Ruegnitz was born and raised in Clayton county and was well known throughout this section. At one time he kept a hotel in Elkader, known as the Schroeder House.

His death is believed to have been caused from heart trouble, as he was found dead in his room at Hotel Windsor.

He is survived by one daughter, Marie Pressy, and one son, Carl Ruegnitz, both of Denver.

Note: his wife was Carrie Kuempel, who died in 1924. They are buried in Denver, Colorado, Fairmount cemetery.
