The body of Mrs. Susan Emery was brought from Aurora to Monona for burial, Tuesday, Jan. 9th. Those accompanying the remains were Mr. and Mrs. [?Mouhe] Potwin, Mrs. Mary Thomas and Mrs. Henry Edson, the two latter being her sisters.
Mrs. Emery has made her home for a number of years with her only daughter, Mrs. Potwin, who has given her every care and comfort. Mrs. Emery came from one of our pioneer families, being a daughter of Jas. Parker, and wife of Horace Emery.
She was left a widow in 1864. One other surviving sister, Mrs. Helen Langdon, was not present at the funeral.

Notes: buried in the Monona City cemetery with her husband Horace, who was an early Superintendent of Schools in Clayton co. He died of consumption in 1864.
