Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Aug. 1924. Strawberry Point column.
Ruth, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Frederick, aged one year and three days old, passed away in the hospital at Iowa City last Friday morning. The little one had been ailing for some time and specialists had been consulted, but in spite of all the medical aid and loving hands could do she left this world of grief and pain and returned to her Maker, where pain and sorrow is no more. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Wells of Manchester assisted by the local pastor, Rev. Fri_____. Four of her little cousins acted as pall bearers and carried the little white casket covered with many beautiful flowers. The remains were laid to rest in our local cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is with the parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gladwin and Mr. and Mrs. John Frederick.
We had a little treasure once,
She was our joy and pride.We loved her, oh, perhaps too well
For soon she slept and died.All is dark within our dwelling;
Lonely are our hearts today.For the one we loved so dearly
Has Forever passed away.(Note: Much of this obit was badly blurred and I did my best to transcribe it.)
