Elkader Register, Thur., 7 Aug. 1924.

Andrew M. Larson was born in Hadeland, Norway, on Sept. 11th, 1851, and passed away at his home, four miles West of Elkader, on Wednesday afternoon, July 30th, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 19 days.

In the summer of 1852, when Andrew was but a few months old, the parents, Michael and Christine Larson, came to America with their family and settled in Iowa County, Wis. Here Andrew spent his childhood days and grew to young manhood. At the age of 21 years he came to Clayton County, Iowa, which has been his home ever since. Here he was married to Miss Josephine Peterson, of Wagner Twp., in June 1873.

To this union ten children were born, of which four preceded their father in death, vix. Mrs. L. H. Larson, who died in 1898, Christian, who was called in infancy, Albert and Mabel Amelia, who passed away at the age of 12 years.

The departed was of an industrious nature and was a hardworking man all his life. It seemed that he could not be contented otherwise. He was a man of a rugged, strong constitution until about three years ago, when he began to complain and commenced to fail visibly. Late he suffered intensely at times from cancer of the stomach. The best of care was given him by his faithful wife and children until the messenger of death relieved him of all earthly suffering.

The departure of a kind and indulgent husband and father is mourned by his faithful wife and companion, who has shared with him the joys and sorrows of life for over fifty years, and the following children:

Peter M. Larson, Martin C. Larson, George Larson, Henry E. Larson, John A. Larson and William L. Larson, all of Clayton County.

He also leaves 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. A. B. Hanson of Dodgeville, Wis., and Mrs. J. P. Grinager of Minneapolis, Minn.; and other relatives and many old time friends and neighbors.

May his soul rest in peace !

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home and in Norway church near St. Olaf, Rev. Franke officiating. Interment was made in the Norway cemetery, his six sons acting as pallbearers. The flower girls were Bertha and Adelia Larson, Louisa and Lydia Dennler, Selma Johnson and Anna Connor
