Memorial services for Violet Marie Anderson, 88, of Elgin were held Saturday, Dec. 28, at West Clermont Church, Clermont, with Dayna Winke as the officiant. Burial was at God's Acres, Clermont. Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont handled the arrangements.
Violet's death occurred Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor.
Violet Marie (Gohde) Anderson was born Feb. 29, 1924, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Albert and Mary Ann (Hendrickson) Gohde. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith in McGregor and attended McGregor High School through the 11th grade.
Violet married Fred Martin Sautter in February 1944 in Giard. To this union four children, Bill, Fred Jr., Terry, and John were born. Fred died in 1968.
Violet married Ted Anderson in 1972, and he died in July 1997.
Violet enjoyed working at various nursing homes and the Postville Hospital as a nurse's aide. She also enjoyed writing many poems, which she called "her gift from God."
Preceding Violet in death were he parents; her husbands, Fred Sautter and Ted Anderson; a grandson; and five siblings.
She is survived by her four sons, William (Margaret) Sautter of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Fred (Bonnie) Sautter Jr. of Farley, Terry (Loretta) Sautter of Manchester, and John Sautter of Waukon; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Note! The obit states she is buried in Gods Acre, but the DOD has not been inscribed on her gravestone in that cemetery; it is inscribed on the stone in Monona City cemetery. Her 1st husband Fred is buried in the Monona City cemetery & 2nd husband Ted is buried in Gods Acre cemetery. See link below for the obit of Edwin 'Ted' Anderson. Interested researchers should independently determine the correct burial site of Violet's remains.
