Amos Daniels, son of John and Margaret Daniels, was born near Lockport, New York, October 6, 1834, and died June 5, 1918, aged 83 years and 9 months.
On September 5, 1856, he was married to Sarah Jane Rhead at Wayne, Michigan. The same year he came to what was known as Little York, Iowa. To this union were born two children, John and George, who still reside at home. From Little York he moved to Cox Creek, where he resided about three years. From there he moved to Fayette county, Putnam township, where he lived several years. His wife died July 2, 1878.
He was again married to Mary Frances Truman, of Putnam. In November 1906 they moved to Strawberry Point, where he has since resided until the time of his death.
The first week of September he had a light stroke of paralysis which left him very helpless. On June 4th he had another stroke which caused his death. He passed away Wednesday evening at 5:15 p.m.
He leaves to mourn his death, and aged wife and two sons, besides many friends. The funeral was held at the home Friday at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. E.D. Wells, pastor of the M.E. church. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
