Mrs. Jorand Lien was born in Hallingdal, Norway, Feb. 8, 1829, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Struvland, Northfield, Minn., April 27, 1924, and was buried at the Norway cemetery at St. Olaf, Iowa, May 8.
Mrs. Lien with husband and family came to this country from Norway in 1857 and located in Clayton County, Iowa, where she resided until 14 years ago when she went to Northfield, Minn., to live with her daughter, Mrs. A. Stuvland.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at Northfield conducted by Rev. Kleven. A short service was also held at the Norway church, Clayton County, Rev. Gunsten officiating. Mrs. Lien leaves to mourn her loss six daughters: Mrs. B. Halverson, Volga, S.D.; Mrs. N. G. Peterson, Newark, Ill.; Mrs. M. T. Paulson, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. M. O. Simenstad, Grand Forks, N.D.; Mrs. A Stuvland, Northfield, Minn.; and Mrs. B. M. Benson of Highland township, Clayton County. Also a brother, Mr. Sven Olson, Northwood, N.D., and a sister, Mrs. Gutterson, Carthage, S.D.
The floral tributes sent by friends, the singing and music at the services were greatly appreciated.
