Henry H. Williamson died Wednesday evening, November 23rd, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dr. I.H. Miles, in McGregor, where he had been taken for treatment. He had been in poor health for some two years, rallying at times but never recovering.

Henry H. Williamson was born in Grand Isle county, Vermont, September 6th, 1839, the son of John and Mary Williamson. In 1851 the family came to Clayton county and settled on the farm in this township about two miles from Elkader, that has ever since been his home.

In September, 1866, Mr. Williamson was married to Mary H. Williams, of New York, and to them were born five children: Churtis H., Helen (Mrs. Dr. Miles), Herbert, Clara and Bernice (Mrs. F.A. Cook). Death claimed the wife and mother April 12th, 1877.

On February 9, 1881, Mr. Williamson married Mrs. Mary A. Howard, nee Miles, of Wyoming county, New York, who now mourns his death. Three children came to them: Miles, James and Mildred; James dying while quite young.

In addition to his wife and seven children, Mr. Williamson is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Dr. Congdon of Cuba, N.Y.; and Mrs. A.J. Carpenter, of Elkader, who received from him father's love and care; four grandchildren and a half sister, Mrs. Jas. Hill of Churdan, Ia.

Two nephews also, John W. Stoops and Herbert Fuller, knew the hospitality and loving care of his home until manhood.

For fifty-nine years he lived on the same farm, tilling and gathering its crops. In 1859 he began the manufacture of brooms, which he continued until about two years ago, when ill health compelled to give up that work.

His life was one of upright and honest toil for those who came under his care, and he earned the love and honor of those who came in close contact with him, and the respect and esteem of the entire community.

The funeral was from the home on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Robt. Lusk, of McGregor, whose sermon was beautifully in accord with the life of the deceased. Mr. Williamson's favorite hymns: "It is well with my Soul" and "Nearer my God to Thee" were sung, and he was tenderly laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.
