Mrs. S.B. Dull, nee Eva Miller, was born in Summerset county, Pennsylvania, February 27th, 1839, and passed away at her home in Monona, Iowa, January 29th, 1917.

Her parents, Michael and Rebecca Miller, settled near Rossville in Allamakee county, Iowa, in 1853. Her marriage to S.B. Dull occurred January 24th, 1855. Of ten children, three have preceded her to the Great Beyond. Her husband, with whom she met and shared life's responsibilities and joys for sixty-two years, survives her. The surviving children are Rebecca, Mrs. S.G. Davis of Ogema, Minn.; William; Mrs. C.G. Owen; Minnie, Michael and Della.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jas. B. Bird at the home, Thursday, February 1st, at 2:30 o'clock. The oration was pronounced from the text. "Her children shall rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her." No more fitting text could have been chosen. Her pastor expressed the prevalent sentiment of many hearts in the quotation "None knoweth her but to love her, none name her but to praise."

Her life was one of actual hardships, recurring disappointments and heart-breaking deprivation. through pioneer days of acute suffering and ceaseless retrenchment, when in spite of industry and strenuous effort the tedious years of economy were augmented by misfortune, she struggled along, with admirable and patient acceptance of each day's trials and with a real faith in a final adjustment. Ever mindful of our interdependence, she was keen to discern another's sorrow, faithful in offering solace, never withholding sympathy. Never was another's kindness left unappreciated, never was a gift unrewarded; and with a pleasing and delightful interest and concern in the welfare of all about her, she was always busy with life's ways. With armor bright and purpose steady for common duties ever ready.

And so this magnificent mother-heart left her family an ideal heritage of unsurpassed love. None can rob them of the tender memories of their mother's refreshing and genuine gratefulness for their loving kindness toward her. As in the days of her children's dependency no burden was too heavy for her to assume, so in the years of her invalidism, they, with absolute disregard for fatigue, had no thought but for the preservation of her health, no concern but for her comfort and welfare.

And so has quietly closed a life which the Master Builder fashioned; whose depths none could fathom; whose far reaching influence none can measure, and the crowning glory of it all is love.

Mid a profusion of fragrant blossoms her mortal remains were tenderly consigned to the earth in the Monona cemetery. The pall bearers were lifelong friends and neighbors.
