Mrs. Eliza Dull, whose maiden name was Boyce, was born in Pennsylvania, November 23rd, 1831, thus her length of years had passed 81 in number. Her parents moved to Iowa when she was a child or eight or nine years. Soon afterward she lost her father, who was frozen to death not far from Garnavillo. Her home has been in Clayton and Allamakee counties for over 70 years.

Her marriage to Daniel Dull took place on August 10th, 1866; her husband died just a year ago this week. She was the mother of three children; one lived only a few hours, Mary died when entering young womanhood, and one, Mrs. Celia Barnett, survives. She leaves three brothers, William Boyce, living in South Dakota; Samuel, at Hartley, Iowa; and Robert, at Monona.

On July 25th, 1897, she became a member of the Methodist church and has maintained that relation continuously since. The deceased has been in feeble health for a long time, gradually growing weaker in memory and strength till she passed away early on the morning of December 26, 1915, at the home of Mr. Heldin [possibly Beldin], in Monona.

The funeral service was held in the Methodist church on December 29th, and the body laid by the side of her husband in the nearby cemetery.

~Register and Argus, Thurs., January 6, 1916 (Monona column)

Note: Gravestone in the Monona City cemetery has DOB 11/23/1834 rather than 1831 as indicated in the obituary.
